I think someone saw Arachnophobia one too many times. You can't show weakness, or the other spiders will sense it and make their move. Foot stomp it to send a message.

The last time I foot-stomped a spider that big, I sent thousands a little teeny-tiny baby spider sprawling across my patio. I couldn't even stomp them out they were so small. I had to resort to soaking the entire patio in wasp spray. Since this was inside, my options were more limited. Plus. It. Was. Undead. In case you missed that part. =)

I Had that same experience. It was one of those, which you never recover from. :(
